If you ever get the chance to use old glass, do it.
There is something special about using glass from the past. Maybe it's because of how the image looks, or could it be the idea of the history behind it? Honestly, it's a bit of both.
It's a challenge sometimes to use old glass. Compared to my modern glass, where I know my subject will have lovely colors and the focus will be on point, it's a hit or a miss when it comes to the old glass. Sure, I can take more photos and change the focus just a bit to satisfy my doubts, but I won't know for sure until I get home.
Even with those challenges, it is still exciting for me. Being able to become creative in how I compose my image, knowing my limitations of what I can capture.
This time, the challenge, my enemy, was the Sun.
When the Sun is at its highest, my old 50mm likes to say goodbye to color. All of my images are washed out and it just seems like they are not usable to be shown to the world.
With that knowledge, I decided I would have some fun with the colors of the images. They are definitely different from my usual type of editing, but I like it because it's new.
Sometimes new is good.
